That May 4 strike in Egypt
May 5, 2008 by E. Cartman
I can barely find anything about the Muslim Brotherhood’s May 4 strike in Egypt so I assume that Mubarak’s measures to jack up wages 30 percent fizzled the strike.
And what do you know, the *next day* Mubarak proposes a 35 percent increase in fuel prices.
May 5, 2008 | 1515 GMTThe Egyptian parliament’s ruling party proposed May 5 large increases on Monday in fuel and cigarette prices and in vehicle licence fees as a means of paying for the costs of President Hosni Mubarak’s recent proposal for public-sector pay raises, Reuters reported. In the proposal, the price of 90 octane fuel would rise 35 percent.
This story isn’t over … Egypt is going to spawn a lot of problems for us in the next few years.
Feeling that this newspaper is always happy that egypt is in problems and troubles..never giving a mention to the good deeds, but always attacking the government . One time i want see an article about the egyptian people. I myself don’t like the american government, but i like the american people.. they are lovely , kind and co-operative. i hope that in next articles about egypt to read something about the people other than misery and poverty because poverty is not a sin,but to be extraordinary is.
